The technical stuff distilled down into English –

This security flaw will allow bad guys to infect your computer with what is known as a ‘drive by install’ where a website that is infected will trick your computer to download and execute instructions just by visiting it.

The security hole in this case is in the part of Windows that draws different fonts used in everything on the computer from word processors to displaying special fonts on a website. Applying this patch will not impact the way things look but it will close the hole that will allow fonts downloaded from a website to take control of your computer allowing the installation of programs, deletion of files, viewing private information and create new user accounts with full administrative privileges.

The flaw is by now public although there are no recorded cases of the exploit being actively used.
