ALERT! Up to 40 million routers put their networks at risk

A long term study reveals millions of routers are leaving the front doors of networks wide open. CERT releases warnings.Hacker_Inside_Logo.svg

Security firm Rapid7 completed an audit of every single IP address on the internet taking several months and found that millions of these addresses responded with open arms effectively handing the keys to a private network to anyone that asks for it.

Fortunately you can test your router for this vulnerability by visiting the GRC.com website and looking at the Shields up page to track down the UPNP vulnerability test.

If your router is flagged as vulnerable it is recommended that you replace your router ASAP.

I will be talking about this in more detail in tonight’s show with Chris Isley on Perths 6PR. Listen in at 6PR.com.au and posting a recording of the show on this website.
