Protecting yourself from ransomware

After chatting with Gary Adshead at 6PR I thought I should put together a kit that will reduce your risk exposure to ransomware.

Prevention is the best way to combat this and the following links will reduce the risk.

CryptoPrevent PremiumCryptoprevent is a way to prevent ransomware from running on your computer and has been recommended by big names in the computer security world.

Also the value of making a backup is one of the most important ways to recover from problems due to ransomware. You know you should do backups for all sorts of reasons including ransomware attacks and hardware failure. One of my favourites is Acronis True Image. Windows or Mac with local backup and optional unlimited cloud storage. Discounts on multiple computer licenses makes this a great pick for small business as well as the single computer home.

Simple enough for anyone to use and powerful enough to have you up and running in around an hour or less from a total hardware failure.

In some cases it is possible to recover from ransomware infections so if you have been hit, feel free to get in touch and I will do my best to help out.
