Beta testing of Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware offers hope against one of the biggest cyber threats today.
You should have heard about ransomware by now. If not, then you need to pay attention as this class of malicious software is impacting businesses and homes and is proving to be extremely effective for criminals looking to hold your precious data to ransom.
A long time favourite product of mine when it comes to keeping other kinds of threats in check has been Malwarebytes and along with Anti-Malware and Anti-Exploit we have an upcoming product announced in Beta (testing before release to market) Anti-Ransomware.
If past performance is anything to go by, we could very soon see another solid product that should hopefully stop Ransomware in its tracks potentially saving homes and businesses millions if not billions in damage to business services and paid ransoms which range from a couple of hundred dollars to thousands of dollars per infection.
Below is a video demonstrating how the beta performs against some of the most common Ransomware Variants. If anything it will give you an idea on how quickly these nasty programs take hold of your precious data. (Youtube link : https://youtu.be/WOkUhGlXnRg)
This is a very anticipated addition to my selection of anti-malware tools that currently only consists of CryptoPrevent which cleverly disables the functions in Windows that allow Ransomware to take hold. (Highly recommended).
Of course nothing beats a good backup strategy in case anything slips by or you have the usual range of other digital mishaps from hardware failure to user error.
