A post from the road: The threat still remains.

This  morning I checked my email to find an invoice sent to me.

I almost opened the attachment but one thing stopped me.

The .zip on the end of the file.

This is a compressed file that can trick your computer into running a program on it. Typically cryptowall or a variant of it that will cripple pretty much any business.

Always watch out for extensions when checking email.

Also always make sure you have a backup that is offline in case you do get hit. The ransomware criminals are getting more determined to make your life a misery.

To protect your business from ransomware installed by well-meaning but mis-informed staff consider using cryptoprevent from FoolishIT to limit the chance of falling victim to this scourge of the Internet.
